Briggs & Stratton Generator Installation

Whole-home Briggs & Stratton standby systems, sized properly and installed by our own licensed crew — permit, inspection and startup included, not left for you to chase.

  • Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer — warranty claims filed by us
  • 7-year comprehensive warranty, standard on every unit
  • Permit pulled and inspection coordinated by us
  • Load sizing before you get a price, not after
  • Licensed under TECL #37583

What a professional install includes

The brand on the enclosure changes very little about the job. A standby generator is electrical and fuel-gas work with a permit attached, and all of this is inside the price we quote:

  • Site evaluation and load sizing — from what you want running during an outage
  • Permit and inspection — pulled and coordinated by us
  • Concrete pad — poured and cured, or a raised platform where the lot takes water
  • Gas line coordination — line sizing and the meter upgrade if one is needed
  • Automatic transfer switch — whole-home or essential-circuits, matched to the load
  • Electrical hookup — our own licensed crew, not subcontracted
  • Startup and walkthrough — commissioned under load before we leave
  • Warranty registration — completed at handover

Where Briggs & Stratton fits

We carry three brands and we are straight about where each one lands. Briggs & Stratton is worth looking at if:

  • You want an alternative to the two obvious names. Most quotes in this market are Generac or Kohler. Having a third option is occasionally the difference between a system that fits the budget and one that does not.
  • Your load calculation lands at the lower end. A smaller home with a tight essential-circuits list does not need the breadth of a large model ladder, and paying for range you will not use is a real cost.
  • Your lot is tight. Briggs states that the PowerProtect+ range vents its exhaust out the front rather than the side, which they position as giving more installation flexibility. On the newer Fort Bend lots — where the gap between the house and the property line is measured in feet — where a unit can legally and safely sit is often the constraint that decides the whole job. We will tell you at the site visit whether it actually helps on your lot.
  • You want the installer, not the badge, to be the decision. The install quality matters more to how a generator lives than the manufacturer does — the pad, the gas sizing, the transfer switch and the commissioning are what fail, far more often than the engine.

An authorized dealer, and what that means

We are a Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer and installer. In practice that means the unit is bought through the proper channel rather than sourced from a box store and fitted by whoever is cheapest — which matters more than it sounds, because an improperly supplied or installed unit is where warranty arguments start.

Every Briggs & Stratton home standby unit we install carries a 7-year comprehensive warranty as standard — not an upgrade, not an extended plan you buy on top. It is worth comparing that against what else you are quoted, because warranty length is one of the few specs you can compare like for like.

It also means warranty work goes through us. If something fails inside the warranty period we file the claim and carry out the repair ourselves — you are not chasing the manufacturer, and you are not waiting on them to find somebody local who will take the job. It is the part nobody thinks to ask about at quoting time and the part they notice three years later.

Beyond that, the same licensed crew does the generator and the electrical work. A standby system fails at the pad, the gas sizing, the transfer switch or the commissioning far more often than it fails at the engine, and all four of those are install decisions rather than manufacturing ones.

How the job runs

  1. 1. Free site visit and load calculation. Panel, gas supply, and where the unit can legally sit.
  2. 2. Written quote. Itemised and fixed — pad, gas, transfer switch and unit shown separately.
  3. 3. Permit and scheduling. We pull it; the timeline belongs to your city or county.
  4. 4. Installation. Pad, set, gas, electrical, transfer switch, by our own crew.
  5. 5. Inspection, startup and walkthrough. Run under load, inspected, warranty registered, and you are shown how it works.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you install Briggs & Stratton home standby generators?
Yes. We are a Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer and installer, and we sell, install, maintain and repair their home standby generators alongside Generac and Kohler. The installation itself is the same scope whichever brand you choose — site evaluation and load sizing, permit and inspection, concrete pad, gas line coordination, automatic transfer switch, electrical hookup, startup and a walkthrough before we leave.
Who handles the permit for a Briggs & Stratton installation?
We do. Standby generator installs need an electrical permit and, where a gas line is involved, a fuel-gas permit and inspection from your city or county. We pull those and coordinate the inspection as part of the job, the same as for any brand we install.
Can you service a Briggs & Stratton generator you did not install?
Yes. We maintain and repair Briggs & Stratton home standby units regardless of who installed them, and we are an Authorized Dealer and installer for the brand. That also covers warranty work: we file the claim and carry out the repair ourselves, so you are not chasing the manufacturer for an authorized servicer. Scheduled servicing at the manufacturer's intervals is what keeps a warranty valid on any make, so it is worth putting the unit on a plan rather than remembering it yourself.
How do I know what size Briggs & Stratton unit I need?
The sizing method does not change with the brand. We work out what you want running during an outage, add the largest startup surge, and size so the generator is not running at its limit. What changes between manufacturers is which model that figure lands on. We do the load calculation before quoting, so the size is worked out rather than guessed.
What warranty comes with a Briggs & Stratton standby generator?
Every Briggs & Stratton home standby unit we install comes with a 7-year comprehensive warranty as standard, rather than as a paid upgrade. Because we are a Briggs & Stratton Authorized Dealer, a claim inside that period is filed by us and the repair is carried out by us, so you are not chasing the manufacturer for an authorized servicer. Keeping the unit serviced at the manufacturer's intervals is what keeps that cover valid, on any make.
